Out of Your Body.Â
What Is Somatic Release?
Somatic release is the key to unlocking the stress, anxiety, and tension your body has been holding—sometimes for years.
It’s not about thinking your way out of it.
It’s about feeling your way through.
Ever notice how your shoulders stay tight, your jaw clenches, or your stomach knots up when life gets overwhelming?
That’s your body storing emotions you never got the chance to fully process.
Somatic release shows you how to let that go—for good.
Through movement, breath, and deep body awareness, you clear out the stuck energy that’s been keeping you on edge, disconnected, or exhausted.
You don’t have to keep carrying what’s not yours.
You don’t have to live in survival mode.
Your body knows how to release what's no longer serving you—it’s just waiting for you to give it the safety and space to do so.

What to Expect

Â
You'll Learn to Create Safety In Your Body
Stress and trauma can leave you feeling chronically unsafe, resulting in unnecessary triggers, tension, and mental stress.Â
You'll learn how trauma works and why it gets stored in the tissues. Then, you'll practice and embody a series of techniques that sooth the nervous system and calm the mind.
By creating a sense of safety in the body, the mind can find rest.Â
Â

Â
You'll Release Tension from the Hips & Shoulders
The muscles, tendons, and fascia in your hip flexors (particularly the psoas), tend to hold a great deal of the body's unresolved fight-or-flight energy.Â
Your shoulders may also hold onto fear of attack, as they rise and round forward to protect your chest and arteries.
By gently releasing the chronic defensiveness in your hips and shoulders, you'll find more comfort and ease in your body and in your life.Â

Â
You'll Awaken Your Instinctual Healing Abilities
Humans are animals, and animals are experts at releasing and integrating the energy from life-threatening events that could otherwise result in trauma.Â
With the help of intuitive movement, you'll awaken the tiger within and activate your body's ancient healing capabilities so repressed energy can come to resolution.

Â
You'll Anchor into Joy
Somatic Release Work isn't just about letting go of what doesn't serve you. It's also about activating and welcoming the sights, sounds, and sensations that bring you fulfillment and joy.Â
Our bodies don't only hold trauma-- they also hold love, closeness, fond memories, and beautiful moments.Â
You'll learn how to tap into the positive memories stored in your tissues and anchor them into the present moment.Â
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are there any contraindications for The Somatic Release Retreat?
A: Please consult your physician before registering if you have physical or psychological/psychiatric conditions that require strict regulation, if you have fragile psychological defenses or a complex history of trauma, if you have restricting physical or medical limitations, or if you are pregnant.Â
Please don't register in case of epilepsy, blood pressure disorders, bone injuries sustained, including fractures, arrhythmia, an implanted pacemaker, joint sprains, or schizophrenia.
Q: Do somatic release techniques cause you to relive old memories?
A: While it is possible for old memories to resurface during somatic release techniques, experiencing vivid or emotionally intense memories is uncommon. Somatic release techniques focus on body sensations, rather than on stories and personal narratives. For this reason, temporary sensations and emotions in the body may arise, but they rarely activate specific or episodic memories.Â
Q: How does somatic release compare to talk therapy?
A: Talk therapy takes a top-down approach to healing by connecting with another person (usually a therapist) who helps you to understand what's going on with you while you consciously process memories. Somatic release, on the other hand, takes a bottom-up approach that allows the body to have experiences that deeply and viscerally contradict the helplessness, rage, or collapse that results from trauma. Both approaches are powerful and very complimentary.Â
Q:Â Do I need to be consciously aware of trauma to be able to release it?
A: No. Studies have show that consciously reliving old, traumatic memories can solidify the traumatized energy more deeply into our systems. By focusing on the physical sensations and intuitive movements of the body, we can unwind stuck emotions and trauma without ever needing to be consciously aware of the cause.
Q: How will I feel after a somatic release session?
A:Â Most people feel relaxed, at ease, or even pleasantly energized after a somatic release session. Sometimes, emotions such as grief and anger may show up and "ask" to be processed. You will be provided with many tools to deal with uncomfortable emotions throughout the experience but if you get stuck or need assistance, I'll be happy to help you work through any particularly stubborn emotions that may arise.
Please note that The Somatic Release Series should not be used as a substitute for trauma recovery procedures of a medical or psychological nature.
